Winter Registration 2020-2021 Season!

We are excited to announce Registration for our 2020-2021 Winter Season at the Sun Bowl Arena.

CanSkate is starting up again!!

CanSkate is Skate Canada’s official “Learn to Skate” program.  It teaches the fundamentals of skating in a progressive and fun manner. Designed for beginners of all ages, the focus is on fun, participation and basic skill development. Skaters must be able to more forward and get up from a fall on their own. It is mandatory for skaters to wear a CSA approved helmet on the ice.  Skaters should also wear warm clothing that enables them to freely move on the ice while still staying warm.

Session 1 – 10:30 – 11:15 am

Session 2 – 11:45 – 12:30

Fee is $200 per year

Due to Covid 19 protocols, Skate Canada and Sport BC return plans and our local facility plans we are limited to the number of skaters on the ice.

The health and safety of our skaters and community members remains our top priority. We will be following strict Covid-19 protocols set in place by Skate Canada, and in collaboration with the Town of Osoyoos. For current guidelines, see provided link Skate Canada BC/YK COVID-19 Information . In order to maintain limited capacity inside the arena, as well as social distancing and ensure the use of hand sanitizer, we will be relying on parent volunteers to sign up for 15 min shifts before each session. Please wear a mask if you feel comfortable, and abide by the new protocols that will be in place! Water fountains will be out of commission, and you will need to come dressed, as the dressing rooms will not be available. There will be a spot to put skates on only. Let’s all be kind to each other, and work together as we adjust to the new normal around the rink.

This program has two 45 minute sessions a week.  Sessions are taught in a group format and skaters will be introduced to freeskate, dance and skills.  This level is a bridge between Canskate and StarSkate levels.  Skaters from this program may enter the STARskate Program once they complete level 6.
Fee is $ 280.00 per year.

The STARskate Program is for skaters who want to learn freeskate, skills, dances, and stroking and be eligible to compete at various competitions and take assessments to advance their levels. Lessons are provided by the Coach in a group, private or semi-private format.  These skaters will be billed separately by the Coach for the private lessons and semi private lesson. We are happy to announce the addition of a daily paid group lesson for all skaters included in registration.  Parents of STARskaters need to contact the Coach directly to discuss and book lessons. Coach Andrea can be contacted by phone at 250-689-1509 (texts are OK) or by email:
Offered Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, see detailed schedule for times. The annual Fee for 3 days per week is: $320.
