As all programs below are figure skating programs – proper figure skates are required (hockey skates and “plastic” skates are not permitted). Skaters are also now expected to wear the proper attire to help create a safer environment for themselves and others around them. For more information follow our “Equipment Info.” page.

Jr. StarSkate

(Primary)

Jr. StarSkate is the first level of the StarSkate stream and will be in the Star 1 + 2 range. Skaters are now able to take part in Skate Canada section assessments (coach assessed) as well as competitions.

Pre-Requisites

  • Completed CanSkate level 6
  • Skaters are encouraged to have skates with stronger ankle support
  • A strong sense of working individually (90% movement)

What to Expect

  • Sessions are 1 hour long and include one 15 minute group lesson, the rest of the session is done on an individual basis (refer to the schedule for session break down)
  • Private/shared lessons at the expense of the skater guardian are now implemented – “private” lessons are organized on the basis of availability (contact Coach Patricia)
  • Assessements take part in 3 areas: Skills, Dance, and FreeSkate

StarSkate

(Intermediate)

Our Intermediate skaters are at the Star 3 – 5 area. Here skaters are still able to be coach assessed with Skate Canada section tests. Skaters are encouraged to be taking part in all regional competitions.

Pre-Requisites

  • Completed all areas of Star 2
  • Skaters are encouraged to have skates with strong ankle support
  • A strong sense of working individually (95% movement)

  • Private/shared lessons at the expense of the skater guardian are now implemented – “private” lessons are organized on the basis of availability (contact Coach Patricia)

StarSkate

(Senior)

Our Senior skaters are at the Star 6 – Gold area. Here skaters are no longer coach assessed with Skate Canada section tests and will require official assessed “test days”. Skaters are encouraged to be taking part in region and section competitions.

  • Completed all areas of Star 5
  • Skaters are encouraged to have skates with strong ankle support
  • A strong sense of working individually (95% movement)

Competitive / Podium Pathway

Our Competitive skaters are at the Pre-Juvenile – Novice area. Here skaters still take part in Skate Canada section tests and will require official assessed “test days”. Skaters are encouraged to be taking part in all region and section competitions.

Pre-Requisites

  • Skater and guardian will need to reach out to the clubs head coach to discuss the possibility of taking part at this level
  • Requires serious commitment
  • A strong sense of working individually (98% movement)

Adult Skate

Our Adult skaters are any level of skater 18+ years of age. Here skaters have the option to take part in Skate Canada section tests, Adult competitions, or just skate for fun.

Pre-Requisites

  • Skaters should have a handle on the basics of skating (if you are interested in an Adult Learn-to-Skate please contact the club)
  • Skaters are encouraged to have skates with strong ankle support
  • A strong sense of working individually (85% movement – dependent on age and level)
