Pre-CanSkate
About the Program
The focus of this class is to teach skaters with little to no experience how to skate within a relaxed and fun group atmosphere. This program is intended for skaters that do not know how to skate and will need assistance from coaches and PA helpers.
Skaters will be assessed by a NCCP certified coach during the sessions. Once they have achieved all Skate Canada set standard “check marks” and are able to work individually, guardians will be contacted and skaters will receive a ribbon to signify their achievement.
What’s Next?
Once the skater has completed the Pre-CanSkate program they are now able to move on to our CanSkate sessions!
Requirements
- Must be a minimum of 3 years of age at the time of registration (no age limit)
- Must wear an up-to-date CSA approved helmet at all times on the ice (hair must not obstruct vision)
- Warm proper fitting clothes such as: winter coat, gloves, and snow pants
- No loose or distracting items allowed on the ice (ie. toys of any sort, capes, long skirts, backpacks, wings, etc.) – skater guardian will be asked to remove problematic items
CanSkate (Stages 1 – 4)
About the Program
It is Canada’s #1 Learn-to-Skate program. The program is designed for skaters that are ready to receive instruction and begin learning the fundamentals of skating. This group is intended for skaters who can skate and stand on their own. All CanSkate lessons are in a group lesson format with assistance from PA’s (Program Assistants). Skaters are tested continually and receive ribbons and badges to mark their progress.
