Our Teen & Adult Learn-to-Skate program is designed specifically for participants aged 13 years and older who are new to skating or looking to build confidence on the ice in an age-appropriate environment. Skaters will work through fundamental skating skills in a supportive group setting led by an NCCP Certified Coach. Whether your goal is recreational skating, learning alongside your family, or preparing for hockey, ringette, or figure skating, this program provides a welcoming place to learn at your own pace.
Teen & Adult LTS
Jr. StarSkate is the first level of the StarSkate stream and will be in the Star 1 + 2 range. Skaters are now able to take part in Skate Canada section assessments (coach assessed) as well as competitions.
Who Can Join?
- Anyone aged 13 years and older
- No previous skating experience required
- Perfect for beginners, returning skaters, or anyone wanting to build confidence on the ice
Equipment Needed
- Properly fitted skates
- CSA-approved hockey helmet required for beginner teen skaters
- Helmets are strongly recommended for beginner adults (18+) and may be excused by the coach as skills progress
What to Expect
- Sessions are delivered through full-ice group instruction rather than the traditional CanSkate station format
- Skaters will learn balance, forward and backward skating, stopping, turning, edges, and other fundamental skating skills
- A fun, encouraging, and age-appropriate learning environment
- Progress at your own pace with individualized feedback from an NCCP Certified Coach
- As the program grows, participants may have the opportunity to progress into Basic and Advanced Learn-to-Skate groups while remaining on the same ice session
