In Partnership with OSE and OSS, Sun Bowl Skating Club is excited to announce Osoyoos Ice Skating Academy for Ice Skaters in JUNOIR STAR 1 level and higher!
The Ice Skating Academy is an exciting new training program designed to elevate the skills and development of our STAR skaters. As an additional Skate Canada-sanctioned program, it provides enhanced ice time and lesson opportunities to help skaters be more confident and advance faster. Athletes get the chance to train during the morning while continuing their academic studies.
Schedule:
Fall: September 10 – December 18
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:15 am-8:15 am
Winter: January 5 – March 12
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:15 am-8:15 am
Participants will be bused back to their allocated schools just in time for the school day to start.
Skaters who have moved up in levels can attend in the New Year.
What to Expect
Participants in the Skating Academy will train in a group setting led by two NCCP Regional (Level 2) Coaches. Skaters can look forward to:
- Real competition simulation setting days
- Increased assessment day opportunities
- Introduction to new event formats (including Showcase, Synchro, Creative, and Ice Dance)

Prerequisites
- Open to all skaters currently working at the STAR 1 level or higher
- Skaters are encouraged to have skates with strong ankle support
- A strong sense of working individually (95% movement)
- The ability to work in a team environment and show respect and cooperation with peers across all levels
